You may have noticed your PC slowing down. I did a little bit of monitoring today and the problem - for me at least - is the countless and mostly unnecessary adverts and flash movies. eg sites like the BBC - that clock on the top right uses 10% of my CPU.
Fortunately there is an add-on for Firefox 2 and 3 which turns off flash movies until you want to play them.
Use Tools - Add-ons - click get extensions and search for flashblock then click add to firefox.
Hmm. The main experiment is set to start 10 September 2008. One bunch of experts say it will destroy the planet - the others pour scorn on the fears.
Perhaps we should just use these few days to reflect on what is really important - neighbours, family, friends, pets and not being unpleasant to anyone or anything else. Look after yourself too.
See you all Thursday?
I happen to hear the Author on Southern Counties Radio this week. In response to the interviewer asking a long question if there was a serious point to the book Michael said something "of course not". They both laughed out loud. Michael has a wicked sense of humour....
I popped into the shops today for a copy. The book has 266 reasons why travel is not all it is cracked up to be. The format makes it easy to dip in and out. One to keep in the Loo perhaps...or read on your travels? Great fun.
It is in the UK bookshops and on Amazon:

It seems the new folks at Evesham have pulled a fast one by voiding all previous warranties. I know of at least one local charity now stranded with a broken machine and having to pay again to have it repaired. Yet Evesham are still out their with a working website taking orders from unsuspecting punters.
Behind all this is the Time group (again!)....shame on them for leaving a charity stranded.
...here we go again. Its 350+megs too. Siggghhh.
I really hope the lessons of SP2 have been learnt...best to wait a long while before you let it near any serious systems.
Ah well. I give in . After the nagging on my login screen - my first post.
To introduce myself. A regular guy...work is computers...pleasure is most things nature and Geology.
