Grrr. Been trying to download Office 2020 beta for several hours. Major problem the download program keeps crashing explorer 8. It seems Microsoft's own download program violates Windows XP protection from service pack 2. To work round this you need to edit your c:\boot.ini to remove the /NoExecute=OptIn parameter here:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Reboot - do the download - and then restore the setting and reboot.

What a pain!

Sorry for silence here. Gosh since summer too....too much time wasted on Twitter.

However, Twitter is starting to get me down. Far too many commercial "get rich quick" types in recent days. I am beginning to think they all come from one person...

If you plagued too I recommend use Twitter groups to manage . If you do want to keep an eye on them set-up a reciprocal group and bin them in there. Keep real twits in meaningful groups and only look at those. See my profile for an example:

After hearing Microsoft have recently been granted the patent for emoticons....thats those smiley or unhappy faces we have all used in emails for years....by contrast this cheered me up:

Sadly Xen is not well loved at the moment. Someone told me Citrix are holding back latest kernel work ... worse it is not stable on Debian Lenny. See: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=517449

Fortunately it takes but a moment to convert guests over to KVM. Kvm is backed by red hat and they seem to be doing all the right things.

Found out today that ltsp works a treat even on very very old hardware. Amd 700 mhz just fine shows Google Earth a treat. More http://ltsp.sourceforge.net/
